How to get here

Clyde is located between two of Central Otago’s main towns – Alexandra and Cromwell – it sits beside the Clutha/Matau-Au River along SH8.

Roads inland from Dunedin sweep through iconic Central Otago landscapes and many small towns established during the golden age. It takes just over 2.5 hours to drive between Dunedin and Clyde.

From Queenstown airport follow SH6 down through the winding Kawarau Gorge to Cromwell (30-40 minutes). From here the road follows alongside the Clutha/Matau-Au River for another 20 minutes before reaching the Clyde Dam and the township of Clyde below it.

Heading from Lake Wanaka it is about a 50 minute journey.

From Christchurch it takes around 5.5 hours to drive to Clyde. To the South, the city of Invercargill is a 2.5 hour drive.
